Here are 5 places to visit

A panoramic view of tradition

Take the time to enjoy one of the best sights of Guayaquil. At 60 meters high, on top of the Santa Ana Hill, you’ll get a 360º view of the city. To the east, you’ll find Santay Island and the Duran Canton; to the west, Carmen Hill. Look to the north, and you’ll get a glimpse of the Babahoyo and Daule river. Turn to the south and you’ll see the Business District. This is the best view spot ever.

Find Guayaquil’s spirit

One of the top places for families, friends and single people alike is Malecón 2000. Overlooking Guayas River, this 2.5-km boardwalk has everything for everyone: gardens, lagoons, fountains, viewpoints, historical landmarks, museums, movie theaters, shopping malls, restaurants, bars and playgrounds.

A symbol of history

At the top of San Ana Hill lies the Guayaquil Lighthouse, a symbol that was rebuilt for the residents and visitors of this colonial district. You’ll recognize the Lighthouse by its swirling blue and white painting. Inside, you’ll find a staircase that leads to a small balcony, which offers an amazing view of the entire city.

A tribute to faith that endures the test of time

The Metropolitan Cathedral of Guayaquil has a magic of its own. Its two spectacular neo-gothic spires –which can be seen from the nearby Iguana park– will mesmerize devout Christians and architecture lovers alike.

A resort town visited by whales

Have you had a close encounter with humpback whales? Well, if you haven’t, Salinas, the “Blue Paradise of the South Pacific” is the perfect place for that. Plus, you’ll also get to see dolphins and sea lions. Come visit Salinas –it’s just 2 and half hours away from Guayaquil by car. You will certainly enjoy this.
